Denim veteran Ali Fatourechi leads Los Angeles-based brand Adaptation into the streetwear scene with an aesthetic that merges impeccable tailoring with a gritty aesthetic that not only embodies but celebrates L.A.’s all-encompassing creative scene. Fatourechi, the founder of Genetic Denim, has brought his sophisticated denim tailoring to Adaptation while branching out into more creative skate-influenced forms of expression. The irreverent brand offers a multitude of laid-back menswear styles from oversized vintage-style graphic t-shirts and relaxed chinos to cropped hoodies and modified denim jackets. Wanting to embody “specific L.A. moments” Fatourechi collaborates with a different local artist each season, the latest being artist Warren Lotas whose cheeky skeleton graphics and hand-scribbled text on denim and field jackets can be seen littered throughout the collection. Luxe elements like sophisticated tailoring, premium textiles, or sheared rabbit fur trim are a reminder of quality despite the brand’s guiding principle of a youthful, carefree existence.
